I’ve been to see live music twice in the last week. (Claire Rousay and FUJI||||||||||TA tonight at National Sawdust; Powers/Rolin Duo at Union Pool last Friday.) I ran into my friend Kevin at the latter, at which point we racked our brains trying to figure out the last time we’d seen one another. Turns out the last time in question was a Mick Trouble show at Alphaville shortly before the pandemic; it was one of a handful of shows I saw before everything locked down. (Garcia Peoples at Wonder Bar was the other.)
Since things re-opened, I think the number of shows I’ve gone to see is still countable on one hand. (SUSS at the Sultan Room; a Sarah Davachi concert for Ambient Church; and a Nightingales show that I saw last spring in London.) I nixed plans to go to a number of events I’d had tickets for in late 2021 over COVID concerns, and I nixed some other plans due to depression. I’m not entirely sure what I’m getting at with writing all of this up, save that I’m hoping that at the very least, I can make a couple more inroads to keeping myself a bit more functional here/actually doing things I enjoy. We’ll see, I guess.
