Had a go at recording an audio version of In the Sight this weekend.

It was, much like the book itself, a very DIY work. After finishing the process I revisited Blake Butler’s thoughts on recording the audiobook version of his book Molly, and — even before factoring in the “these are different books” factor of it all, the experiences were, as they say, not too similar.
That said, one of the things Blake says in here that I totally agree with is the way that reading your work for an audiobook differs from the experience of reading it for an audience. Definitely a new experience, and it got me thinking about In the Sight in a very different way. (As well as seeing the ways in which I was teeing up things I’m writing about in the novel-in-progress.)
